A lot of questions have been coming in from our Incubator clients over the last few days about what to do during the summer holidays

The reality is we’re only around 6 weeks away now

Parents are already thinking about holidays, childcare, family plans, and whether they’ll even be able to keep attending sessions consistently

Which means as gym owners, we need to start thinking about retention now, not in July

Here are 3 simple ideas that might help 👇

1. Lock clients in before summer starts 🤝

Offer a summer pay upfront option

For example, pay for the next 3 months in full and receive a discount, bonus, or reward

Not only does this improve cash flow, it also gives clients a reason to commit through the holiday period

2. Remove the childcare excuse 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

One of the biggest reasons parents stop attending during summer is because the kids are off school

So ask yourself…

How can you make it easier?

Could you create a kids area?

Could older children join in?

Could you provide WiFi, colouring books, games or somewhere safe for them to sit?

The easier you make it, the more likely parents are to keep attending

3. Run a Summer Bingo Challenge 🎯

People are going to go away on holiday, that’s normal

The goal is making sure they still feel connected to your community while they’re away

Create a simple bingo card with tasks such as:

✅ 10,000 steps for 3 days in a row

✅ Complete 3 workouts while away

✅ Drink 2 litres of water every day for a week

✅ Share a holiday workout photo

Get a line and win a prize

Get a full house and win something even better

Simple ideas like this keep people engaged and accountable, even when they’re sat by the pool 🍹

The gyms and studios that retain best over summer don’t wait for cancellations to happen

They plan for them in advance
